By using our free meal planner (and the rest of spoonacular.com) you have to agree that you and only you are responsible for anything that happens to you because of something you have read on this site or have bought/cooked/eaten because of this site. After all, the only person who controls what you put in your mouth is you, right?

Spoonacular is a recipe search engine that sources recipes from across the web. We do our best to find recipes suitable for many diets — whether vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, dairy free, etc. — but we cannot guarantee that a recipe's ingredients are safe for your diet. Always read ingredient lists from the original source (follow the link from the "Instructions" field) in case an ingredient has been incorrectly extracted from the original source or has been labeled incorrectly in any way. Moreover, it is important that you always read the labels on every product you buy to see if the product could cause an allergic reaction or if it conflicts with your personal or religious beliefs. If you are still not sure after reading the label, contact the manufacturer.

We also attempt to estimate the cost and calculate the nutritional information for the recipes found on our site. Again, we cannot guarantee the accuracy of this information. Additionally, our nutrition visualizer that suggests that you limit sodium, sugar, etc., and get enough protein, vitamins, and minerals is not intended as medical advice. Similarly, our health tips are based on articles we have read from various sources across the web, and are not based on any medical training. The team behind spoonacular does not possess any medical qualifications and the information may be found to be incorrect or out of date based on future research. If you need help planning your diet or determining which foods (and recipes) are safe for you, contact a registered dietitian, allergist, or another medical professional.

Instructions

  1. Bring the vegetable broth and another pot of salted water to a boil.
  2. In the meantime peel and halve the kohlrabies, peel and chop the potatoes into small cubes.
  3. Cook the kohlrabi halves in the vegetable broth for about 20-30 minutes until cooked through but still firm to the bite (they definitely should not fall apart).
  4. Take them out of the broth and let them cool down a bit, so that you will be able to touch them without burning your fingers.
  5. In the same time cook the potatoes in the salted water until tender, than drain the potatoes and let cool down a bit as well. Place them in a bowl and mash them.
  6. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius / 390 degrees Fahrenheit.
  7. Chop the bacon into small pieces and fry them gently until nicely crisped.
  8. Place them in the bowl containing the mashed potatoes.
  9. Chop the spring onions, add 2 tablespoons of onions to the bacon and potatoes.
  10. Add 1 tablespoon of the grated Parmesan, the chives, and the egg yolk to the potatoes, mix well and adjust the taste with salt and pepper.
  11. For the second stuffing, halve the cherry tomatoes, discard the seeds and dry the inside of the tomatoes with kitchen paper. Chop the tomatoes very finely, place them in a second bowl together with the rest of the chopped spring onions, cream cheese and creme fraiche. Adjust the taste with salt and pepper.
  12. Scoop some of the flesh from the kohlrabi halves until they resemble nests. Set the flesh aside and use them to make a soup for instance. Place the scooped kohlrabies halves into a baking form. Fill four of the halves with the first stuffing and the other four halves with the second stuffing.
  13. Bake the kohlrabies for about 30 until the stuffing is golden brown and heated through. Serve with a green salad.
