In January 2016, it was announced the FDA was banning three substances used in sandwich wrappers, pizza boxes, and microwave popcorn bags. These substances are used to prevent paper products from becoming soaked with oil, but have been determined to be toxic. However, the ban doesn't guarantee that another toxic chemical won't be used in their place. All that said, this glass microwave popcorn popper is looking like a safer microwave popcorn option to us.
It's extremely easy to use and cuts down on waste too. Just add a layer of popcorn kernels to the bottom of the popper, place the lid on top, and microwave for 2-3 minutes (keep an eye on it, the time will depend on your microwave). You don't need oil to pop, but you can add butter or oil after the fact if you want the flavor.
The glass microwave popcorn popper is made of borosilicate (laboratory) glass and is dishwasher safe, though hand washing is recommended for longevity. Available in blue, red, and green.
