How to Cook Salmon

Salmon is one of the healthiest fish you can eat, thanks to its high omega-3 fatty acid content. Knowing how to prepare salmon is therefore crucial for every cook. The following short video basically tells you everything you need to know:

Here a couple of things to keep in mind when preparing salmon:

  1. Buy fresh salmon with the skin on! Frozen salmon is not nearly as good.
  2. Cut the fillets several times on the skin side and add salt, oil, and herbs into the pouches.
  3. Start frying the salmon on the skin side, and make sure it is in contact with the pan on all sides. Leave it alone now.
  4. Flip the fillet only once. You will see when to flip it when the color turns to a bright pink almost all the way up. All in all it should only take between 4 and 5 minutes total.
  5. Right before the salmon is almost done, tilt the pan slightly so that the oil collects on one side and fries the parts of the fillets that weren't touching the pan so far.
